Campania's capital city, at the center of the gulf between the Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei, is a city bustling with history and art, whose town center is listed among the UNESCO heritage sites. The city of Bourbons is a real treasure trove of palaces, churches, castles and museums that tell the 2,500 year-old history of the place.

A volcanic island in the area of Campi Flegrei, Procida is characterized by tiny pastel-colored houses, caves of tuff and a century-old tradition of seafaring life. Visit the charming village of Corricella, where the fishermen's houses cling to the steep coast, with its staircases and typical terraces.

Don't miss: Terra Murata, a colorful medieval town which still preserves its ancient walls, the Avalos Palace, the Benedictine Abbey of San Michele, the literary park dedicated to author Elsa Morante, the port of Marina Grande

The largest of the volcanic islands in the Gulf of Naples, Ischia, formerly known as Pithecusa, i.e. the island of pottery masters, boasts famous hot springs and a tradition of viticulture. Also known as the "green island", Ischia has a great natural variety and beautiful trails for walking and cycling.

Don't miss: the Mediterranean village of Sant'Angelo, rising on a rock connected to the island by a narrow isthmus of land, with the charming Piazza Sant'Angelo and the marina, the Aragonese Castle, the beautiful towers of Forio d'Ischia, and Belvedere San Nicola on the summit of Mount Epomeo

The Roman ruins of Pompeii, destroyed by the terrible eruption of the Vesuvius in 79 AD, offer a unique glimpse into the daily life of times past. A visit along the ancient streets of the city will lead you to explore villas and patrician houses, gardens, baths, markets and shops of what once was a thriving trade center.

The crystal-clear sea, the beautiful rocks rising from the sea, the small shops and narrow alleys, make the island of Capri romantic and charming. One of the most famous tourist destinations in the world for its long history, combining important monuments with a beautiful natural setting, the colorful Amalfi, a UNESCO heritage site, lends its name to the Amalfi Coast, also known as "the coast of gods". Perched on a ridge overlooking the sea, the town that once was a maritime republic, maintains a long tradition of paper craftsmanship.

One of the most beautiful villages in Italy, at the foot of Mount Taburno, Sant'Agata de'Goti still shows the typical medieval layout with narrow streets and picturesque squares, situated on a terrace surrounded by streams. CASERTA
Caserta's Reggia, a magnificent example of eighteenth-century architecture, is a majestic building commissioned by Charles of Bourbon the king of Naples to Luigi Vanvitelli. Surrounded by an immense landscaped park, the Royal Palace, which from the start was meant to compete with Versailles, is home to the royal apartments and to a number of historical relics.

Don't miss: the park of the Palace, which extends over 120 hectares and is a UNESCO site, including Italian and English gardens, and several beautiful fountains with waterfalls and statues; among them, are Peschiera Grande, and the fountain of Diana and Actaeon.
