The hinterland, away from more fashionable tourist routes, is a real gem. From the city of Ravenna, famous for its basilica and its mosaics, the villages of St. Leo and Verucchio travelling to these areas is a window into the history of Italy during the Renaissance.
Local cuisine: piadina, homemade pasta, grilled beef and pork, squacquerone, aged cheese.
Wines: Sangiovese, Albana, Trebbiano, Cagnina.
