It is a sub region of Molise located in the horthern partof Isernia at the border with the province of Chieti and L'Aquila. Here you will meet the most authentic Molise, with centers perched on the hills and monuments, shrines and art Romanesque. Agnone is the capital of Alto Molise, at 840 meters above sea level, with its old-growth churches, is a place where different eras overlap: important center of Lombard domination in the Middle Ages and home to numerous colonies of Venetian craftsmen. Capracotta, resort, is a well-equipped reference point for cross-country skiing. The landscape of Pietrabbondante is typical of the Alto Molise, rich in forests and plains crossed by streams.
