The medieval castle, in the former keep of which the cottages are situated, dates back to the 12th century, and is said to have been visited by Emperor Arrrigo VII of Luxembourg. The old castle was in the centre of the little village of Poggio Aquilone, which is now surrounded by a working farm of 500 hectares.
The holiday apartments, while having full mode facilities, have been restored in keeping with their (and the village’s) medieval history, and using original materials. They are built of local stone, ceilings are supported by wooden beams, all floors are made from Umbrian tiles, and the old windows open on to views which have to be seen to be believed.
