Immersed between the winding hills of the Sienese Crete, rising between the oak tree woods and the branches of the olive trees lies the ancient cottage "Il Casato ". Situated on a naturally formed terrace of the Val d 'Orcia, which formerly was the home of many peasants and their families, has become today a farm holiday residence of exceptional high quality. It is not always easy to combine the comfort of a good hotel with the authentic simplicity of a country house and offer a "real " rural atmosphere. However, Il Casato today has managed to create this unique atmosphere without renouncing any comforts. The achievement of this remarkable harmony is the main aim of the owner of Il Casato and his family, whose ancestors maintained the land of Val d 'Orcia for centuries. Living on "blood and tears " for many generations, the sharemen, colonised the land through the construction of farms. From each of the guests rooms provided by the Gonzi family, one is able to enjoy the view of the impressive monuments of the Sienese Crete. White imposing round-topped clay pillars covered in white shells, fascinating residue from the primordial marine life, stand out against the sky. Together with this sight, the Casato offers the tranquility of a serene retreat in either the reading room or next to the burning fire. On warmer days, a huge outdoor swimming pool enhances the splendid Tuscan welcome even further.
