Fontanelle is a farm holidays today, not far from Otranto, on the north coast, a stone’s throw from the beach and the sea of dreams, that of Baia dei Turchi, and immersed in a setting of wonderful countryside, where olive trees, cereals, grope-vine, fruit and vegetables are grown. We offer accommodation in a camper area with recreational facilities and in nine double rooms, furnished inspiration to local history. We were boslowly, step by step, on a road where lots of people accompanied us, sometimes taking us by the hand, sometimes looking at us from above, or simply walking alongside us. If you have any minutes, sit back and relax: you are going to listen to a story, ours. We are delighted to welcome you in 9 double rooms with bathroom, consider in detail and with love, with all the comfort, and obtained from the renovation of the premises formerly in the services of the farmhouse: the main oven, the remittance of agricultural tools, the dung and stable. In order to better welcome in the land of Otranto, making you plunge into its charming history, we have furnished out theme rooms, planning it all different, and drawing inspiration from the people who were most likely the protagonists of the Turkish capture of Otranto, as well as the writer Maria Conti, represented them in her masterpiece entitled “L’ora di tutti”, in 1962. We imagined that these historical adventures, the king, the captain and the soldiers would retuto live in our age, a few meters from the beach itself which tells the legend. Each room, therefore, contains and offers emotion and atmosphere: choose the one that belongs to you more! When you are here, you will have a copy of the novel, so the experience will be complete: you can say that you have really gone through “ the heart of Otranto”. Each room measures about 14 square meters, there is also a relaxing outdoor area in which enjoy your well-deserved privacy away from prying eyes, rocked by the charms of the nature. Our guests have direct access, on foot or by bicycle, to Baia dei Turchi, with an easy and pleasant walk in the pinewood, about a quarter of an hour (800 meters). On the way back from the sea, you can buy fruit and vegetables directly from our garden (the farmhouse does not run a kitchen). Finally, every morning, you can have breakfast outside on the patio, with coffee, milk or tea, and cakes rigorously “zero-mile”.

We are pleased to host you in 9 double bedrooms with bathroom, designed in detail and with love, equipped with all comforts and created from the restructuring of spaces that historically served the farmhouse: the master oven, the agricultural tool shed, the manure pit and the stable. To better welcome you in the Land of Otranto, immersing you in its fascinating history, we have furnished our rooms with a theme, designing each one different, and drawing inspiration from the characters who were likely the protagonists of the Turkish conquest of Otranto, as the writer Maria Corti represented them in 1962 in her masterpiece The Hour of All. We imagined that these historical adventurers, the fishermen, the king, the captain and the soldiers returned to live in our era, a few meters from that same beach that tells their legend. Each room, therefore, contains and conveys a different emotion and atmosphere: choose the one that belongs to you most!

Surroundings (Otranto)

Salento welcomes its visitors with an atmosphere of continuous celebration, offering plenty of opportunities for entertainment and cultural enrichment. The Alimini Lakes, places of botanical and wildlife interest where you can rent canoes and enjoy horseback excursions, are just 1 km from the property (perfect by bicycle). Not far away you'll find the festivals and patron saint celebrations in the charming villages of Grecìa Salentina. A visit to Otranto is a must: the Castle with its art exhibitions, the Cathedral with its magnificent floor mosaic, the historic centre where you can shop among the narrow streets; and also the Palascìa Lighthouse, which marks Italy's easternmost point, with the former bauxite quarry nearby, featuring a stunning "green lake".
