Masseria Macurano is a typical and unique rural building, symbolizing the peasant civilization of the 18th century. The imposing two-story tower-like structure, originally used for lookout purposes, is surrounded by rustic buildings, a wood-fired oven, a Mediterranean garden, a stable, and sheepfolds. On the ground floor, a carriage door connects the courtyard to the outside. The fortification walls, made of stones, red earth, and local limestone tuff blocks, are real testaments to the sense of insecurity that prevailed in the Salento Peninsula, located between two seas. These walls encircle the entire property, almost protecting the memory and serenity of the place from prying eyes.
Its strategic location allows guests to reach the sea in just a few minutes, with the choice between the majestic rocky landscape of the Adriatic coast and the wild sandy expanses of the Ionian coast. Thanks to a careful and thorough restoration, the masseria has become a charming agriturismo, where Marco, Daniela, and Luciano, true pioneers since the 1990s, work hard to provide their guests with unforgettable vacations, enhanced by simple, traditional cuisine that is deeply rooted in the local history and culture.
