In 1534 the Castelvecchio estate was transferred by abbot of San Lorenzo in Campo to the Urbino's Duke Della Rovere. After the last Duke Della Rovere's death, the estate was transferred to the Papal State and Villa Palombara was transferred to the Princes Barberini.
