The agricultural farm-house called the ‘Tenuta San Martino’ is situated in the region of Campania at the bottom of the Cilento on the border of the region of Basilicata. We welcome our guests in a comfortable rustic setting, formerly an old village which has recently been restructured. We accommodate our guests in six comfortable small colonial-style houses each of which having all necessary comforts.
The farm-house lies little more than 2 km away from the sea, enjoying a magnificent view of the Gulf of Sapri which in itself forms part of the famous Gulf of Policastro.
Villaggio San Martino is a strategic starting point for visiting many of the the Cilento’s truly memorable locations and sights in addition to The Pollino Parks, the statue of Cristo di Maratea, The small port town of Scario, Marina di Camerota, Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula, the archaeological sites of Fistelia, Velia and Paestum, the WWF Oasis of Morigerati , as well as the Caves of Pertosa…
There are also numerous possibilities for leisure, such as: horseback riding, mountain biking, boat trips in the blue and fish-filled sea of the Gulf or canoeing on the nearby Bussento river (known for its intriguing caves); walks along the paths immersed in Mediterranean nature with its intense scents or in the mountains in the evocative beech forests of Mount Cervati (1,800 meters above sea level) and also in the nearby oak and chestnut woods.
The rural farmhouses are located within the Village in a scattered position near tree-lined and shaded areas with sea views. They are simple, comfortable and independent, distant from each other to guarantee guests their privacy. These characteristics offer the real possibility of finding oneself in the silence of the place, in calm and serenity.
The Gulf of Policastro
It is a large inlet that the Tyrrhenian Sea waters stretching from Punta degli Infreschi, in Campania, to Capo Scalea, in Calabria, its waves lapping against the shoreline of the splendid Lucanian coast. A succession of steep headlands and jagged cliffs, such as those of Masseta and Scialandro, which enclose a mixture of magical coves and intimate beaches. Along the coast and inland, nature and history blend together offering the vision of picturesque landscapes. Copious underwater springs flow from karst caves now submerged, previously populated in prehistoric times. The characteristic villages that dot the territory, both coastal and hilly, have to some extent different features from each other, in terms of culture, history and dialects; yet there are numerous common traits: the kindness, helpfulness and friendliness of the people. The purity of the air, the clarity of the waters of the rivers and the sea, the lush vegetation of the Mediterranean scrub and the woods, the majesty of the mountains, these shared commonalities reveal a nature that is still intact and at times even wild.
