With spring many events are organized all over Italy to rediscover the beauty of our villages and cities: antique markets, events dedicated to fans of vintage, craft fairs, and historical re-enactments that make us relive the atmosphere of the past. Here are some tips for a trip outdoors, perhaps taking advantage of a relaxing stay at a farmhouse!1) TREASURES AND ANTIQUES IN THE PORT OF GENOA
The beautiful setting of the Old Port of Genoa hosts on May 3 and 4 “Genova Antiquaria”, an antique market for vintage and collectible items: paintings, antique furniture, pottery, jewelry, rugs. Do not miss the exhibition “Aeolus in the Rose of the Winds”, May 3 to 18 at Palazzo San Giorgio, which through ancient maps documents the evolution of the perception of the borders of the Mediterranean basin over the centuries.

The Farmhouse Bellocchio, located in a forest of chestnut trees a few kilometers from Genoa and Recco, just 15 minutes from the path of the Two Gulfs, is renowned for its excellent restaurant serving seasonal menus with the use of vegetables, meat and oil produced on the farm; many of the typical Ligurian dishes like beetroot cake, rice cake, cheese focaccia, ravioli and “pansotti”, fresh pasta.

2) MEDIEVAL TOURNAMENT IN JESI FOR THE PALIO OF SAN FLORIANO
From 3 to 11 May, the streets and squares of Jesi (Ancona), dress up in old colors: marches and medieval games with the participation of numerous characters wearing gorgeous costumes, medieval music concerts, flea markets, tournaments, taverns and the  the impressive assault on the walls, as well as evening shows with minstrels and itinerant groups… an event not to be missed!

A short distance from Ancona, Farmhouse Croce del Moro is an oasis of tranquility in the green of the Marche hills, a short distance from the Frasassi caves and the beach of Senigallia, in the cradle of production of Verdicchio wine. A comfortable environment for the whole family, even the little ones thanks to the large garden, and swimming pool. The restaurant offers traditional cuisine, using fresh ingredients and homemade pasta, and the “crescia”, the typical chopping board with all the meats and cheeses from the valleys, oils and essences.

3) VINTAGE FOR EVERYONE IN THE PROVINCE OF VERONA
Valeggio sul Mincio (Verona) is the location of an open-air event dedicated to all lovers of vintage on May 11th: “Valeggio vest il vintage”, an exhibition-market of fashion, vintage accessories, and modern design. A journey back in time to rediscover refined models, beat fantasies from the ’70s, vintage hats, jewelry, and unique pieces for collectors.

Farmhouse Corte Pellegrini offers its guests some elegant and comfortable rooms and apartments inside the villa. It has a nice restaurant, an outdoor pool, and is a great starting point to visit Verona and Lake Garda. The breakfast buffet is really attractive: freshly baked bread, croissants, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit, cold cuts and local cheese. Corte Pellegrini is also a riding club, which deals with the training of athletes in vaulting, a discipline that combines the fantastic world of horsemanship with gymnastics.

4) HISTORICAL PARADE IN ALTAMURA
From 25 to 27 April, the historic center of Altamura, in Puglia at the center of the Murgia plateau, is home to “Federicus”, an evocative historical commemoration in honor of the great Frederick II. Evocative parades, games, street entertainment, military camps and flag bearers revive the typical “cloisters” and squares of the town. And then artisans and merchants animate the shops of the bustling medieval market. Finally, the representatives of the Latin, Greek , Saracen and Jew Neighborhoods will compete in ancient games for the conquest of the Palio di San Marco.

The Farmhouse Serragambetta is located in the countryside of “trulli” and stone walls, olive trees and red earth. It was built around 1880 as a summer residence, and a hundred years later it began its story as an organic farm, which still retains the respect of the original architecture and gastronomic traditions. For the restaurant they only use organic products: extra virgin olive oil, almonds, cherries and fruit. For breakfast biscuits and bread baked in a wood oven, accompany the jams and freshly picked tomatoes.


5) CANTA’ MAGGIO AND THE PALIO IN THE PROVINCE OF FLORENCE
From May 1st to 4th in Barberino del Mugello (Florence) returns the event “Cant’ Maggio”, and the Palio that will see the teams compete in 5 exciting and ancient games, such as the barrel race. Every evening events, parties and games will liven up the 5 districts of the town, and then there are the market and exhibitions of old cars and motorcycles.
