We have just recovered from the huge Christmas meals, and in the shop-windows the typical Carnival‘s sweets, chiacchiere and tortelli, have already started to appear. There is still some time to go, but here is an overview of some of the events taking place in Italy for Carnival 2013.In VENICE, the city that most symbolizes this event, 2013 is going to be a time of joy, in fact the theme of the carnival period will be colour. The official title of the event is “Vivi i colori – Live in colour“, with a focus on the role colour played in the production of very important artists for Venice such as Canaletto and Giorgione.

We move then to LOMBARDY, where in the wonderful city of Mantua March 3 will host the parade “Carnival rages in Mantua”, that will wind through the streets of the picturesque old town.

Focusing on the south, let’s go to SICILY to discover the Carnival of Petrosino (Trapani), which will begin on February 9th, and will include a parade of many interesting floats.

Going back to VENETO, another noteworthy event is the Carnival of Pastrengo, in the province of VERONA, which will be held on February 17th for the first time, and which will see the citizenship involved in organizing a parade with historical masks through the streets of the town.

These are just a few of the many events that will be organized in Italy during the period of Carnival, a time that this year too cohincides with a great cultural fervor. Our advice is not to miss at least one of these events, and to take a look at our offers to stay at a farmhouse.
