For everyone May 1st means party, picnics and barbecues, but why is it celebrated?
The Labor Day reminds us of the workers’ achievements in the economic and social field and the origin of this festival dates back to September 5, 1882, when an event was organized by the “Knights of Labor” in the United States, which was going to be repeated throughout the years. The final choice of this date was determined by the serious incidents that occurred in early May 1886 in Chicago, known as the “Haymarket Revolt”, during which the police fired on protesters causing many casualties. President Grover Cleveland believed that the celebration of May 1st was an occasion to commemorate this event.
From festivals to street markets and art exhibitions, countless events have characterized this day of rest. This year many people have chosen to spend some relaxing days at home, but relax also meant to celebrate in good company, outdoors, in the sign of good food and strolls in nature, enjoying the different offers and last minute that farmhouses suggested.
