This time we have interviewed Donata, owner of the “Farm house Le Noci”, that told us the story and the activities of, as she has defined, her “Home”.
The “Farm house Le Noci” is situated Arfranta, in an oasis of tranquility in the heart of the Prosecco area. The farm house is surrounded by 12 hectares of land in which Donata and her family have planted over 300 trees of walnut and apple trees.
When did you start the activity?
The farm house was opened in 2005.
Why did you decide to open a farm house?
Before I did a completely different job, that had nothing to do with hospitality or catering, then, suggested by my husband, I decided to undertake this activity; in fact, my husband loves the mountains and before many times at home I prepared dinner for our friends, so we continued to follow these passions undertaking this activity not limiting ourselves to offer catering service, but also hospitality because our intention was to make sure that people would stop here for establishing a relationship with them and to ensure that they feel at home; in fact I don’t like to call Le Noci “Farm house” but “Home”.
Did you live in Arfranta before?
No, first we had lived in another place then for my husband’s love for the mountains, we decided to move to the hills in this beautiful place.
Which typical products it is possible to taste in your farm house?
In our menus are always present the “Pollo in tecia” (stewed chicken), homemade bread and homemade pasta prepared in the morning. The other dishes vary according to the season because we want to offer our guests good and wholesome products, using vegetables from our garden. In this period, for example, we use a lot of herbs of the season and asparagus.
Which activities do you do?
We always try to involve the guests in the activities of the farm house and there are many events that we organize for them related to territory, the traditions and the gastronomy, as the event “Food for the mind”, dinners during which it is invited a writer, to nourish not only the belly but also the mind. Other important events are, on the 25th April, “The sheep take off their coat”, during which you can watch the shearing of sheep, and on the 31th October “In the Woods”.
I want to organize these events because I think it is a duty for a farm house to promote the area where it is located and its traditions, furthermore for me has become a passion.
What is the aspect that characterizes your structure?
Surely what characterizes “Le Noci” is the toast with the guests, taken from a tradition of my family and that has become a real rite.
In fact, when we met in the family for the holidays, after the meal, we all did a toast.
Now I do it with my guests, during the break between the second course and the dessert, I present my employees, such as who prepared the meal, those who have served, those who clean the rooms, so that guests can participate in the work and daily life of the farm house; then we proceed with the toast. And after the toast, the atmosphere is so peaceful that the guests stay seated at the table up to 4 to 5 in the afternoon!
Which is your greatest satisfaction about your activity?
Surely the greatest satisfaction is the heat of the guests, especially when they say “I ate the same that cooked my grandmother” or “I ate like I was at my home”. And this is my goal, make people feel good, relax, get ready to taste good food in an atmosphere of tranquility. All reviews are contained in a “Book” and one that made me most pleasure was “Eating well is a pleasure. Eating well the products of our land is a joy. Knowing that these products are the result of your work and your love is a joy” .
