Every year, on December 7th, the lighting of the world’s largest Christmas tree takes place in the charming town of Gubbio (PG) .
On the slopes of Mount Ingino, overlooking the medieval town of Gubbio, the tree consists of a variety of lighting fixtures to create a very special and unique color effect: more than 250 points of green light outline the shape of a Christmas Tree over 650 meters high, with the central body littered with over 300 multi-colored lights and installed a star on the top surface of 1,000 square feet designed by over 200 points of light. Thousands of people come every year to Gubbio during the Christmas period just to admire the tree.
From December 8th, walking through the district of St. Martin in Gubbio, you can admire the nativity scene with life-size statues, which recreates daily life in the streets glimpses of the past. The nativity scene unfolds along the narrow medieval architectural elements embracing the numerous arches, niches, stores, gates, squares,such an enchanting scenery! Craftsmen and artists give life to characters who seem to live with the locals, fell in an almost real busy scenes of everyday life and in arts and crafts of ancient Gubbio.
The discovery of interesting corners, sudden glimpses of authentic scenarios leads naturally to the central scene, that of the Nativity.
It is an important opportunity to get closer to Christmas in the enchanting setting of Gubbio, to spend a few days of rest!
