The agritourist of 2011: never without swimming pool, traditional food and internet

According to a survey by Agriturismi.it carried out in August 2011 among the farm houses in the website, the most requested service is the swimming pool with 52,4%, which nowadays seems to be a must for each country house from north to south. New entry in the second place: internet with 25,7%, showing that agritourists are dynamic and up-to-date people, even on holiday. Instead of television, they prefer the web, where in addition to the daily news, they can get information on itineraries, restaurants or the next farm house to visit. Third place for restaurant service with 22,8%, followed by relaxation and body care (8,3%).

Couples (53,3%) aged between 30 and 40 win the title of “Perfect Agritourists”, but the farm stays are chosen also by families with 44,8% especially because the children can have fun in a healthy, natural and instructive environment.

Sometimes a short stay is enough for taking a break, but the major part of the guests (36,2%) prefer to stay for a week in order to relax and try the activities offered by the country house, turning the holiday into a unique experience.

Among the favorite activities there is the sport in the nature such as trekking (19,4%), horse riding (16,2%) and mountain biking (9,5%); cuisine is another appreciated activity with an interesting food and wine offer in the 24,8% of the farm houses and cooking classes requested by the 15,2% of the guests, for learning culinary traditions and once at home, taste again the typical food.

The result? An holiday with added value, affordable prices and a general passion for agritourism which remains strong in Italy and is growing among international tourists.

According to the statistics on the summer season 2011, the presence of German (31,2%) and French (19,5%) tourists is reconfirmed also this year, while the Dutch, considered also among the nicest guests, have increased to (23,4%) especially in the centre of Italy.
