The Castle of Udine

Udine (Friulian Udin, Slovene Videm, Weiden German historian) is a town of 99,000 inhabitants, capital of the province and is today the capital of Friuli.

The city is located in the center of eastern Friuli plain, natural crossroads between the end of this border area and then the town of ancient origins. The city, in fact, lies at the heart of the Friuli region in the plains around a hill, which is located on the famous castle.
The site on which it stands Udine was inhabited since ancient times and then in Roman and Lombard. The chosen location is strategic for its central position on the Friuli plain and the presence of a hill where the first inhabitants were able to shelter fortify it.
