The rooms, the restaurant, the workshops in which the products are processed, and the two wood-burning ovens in which bread and cakes are cooked, are located in the small village of Aglioni di Capitignano.The accommodation are spread-out amongst the village: 6 rooms (19 beds) all with independent entrance and en-suite bathroom, furnished with rustic period pieces.The restaurant is located in a chestnut wooden chalet with large windows overlooking the pleasant and relaxing garden, botanical garden, orchard and animal fences, all surrounded by woods and mountains.Here you can taste the traditional local dishes prepared from the farm own products based on old peasant recipes.In the land are cultivated legumes, cereals, vegetables and fruits – including some old and rare varieties of seeds that the farm is committed to preserve – and are raised (on a small scale) donkeys, horses, chickens, hens, rabbits, sheep and pigs.
The surrounding mountains are perfect for hiking, walking and riding using the horse and donkeys from the farm. If required, there is a riding school just 2 km away.La Canestra also organizes courses to lea some of the traditional gastronomic and handcrafting skills typical of the area (farmers' bread, baskets, naural soaps, use of the herbs, etc.), as farm activities based on direct experience of nature and rural life for children, families and adults.Finally, the farm collaborates with musicians, poets and other artists to organize events that help to preserve and enhance the rural culture.
